Cricket coaching for kids in full swing |15 September 2022
Last Saturday another successful session of cricket coaching in Seychelles was organised by the Seychelles Cricket Association at the Persévérance cricket ground. This is part of the ongoing kids’ cricket development programme being undertaken by the association.
More than 50 children falling in different age groups took part in the training ran by certified International Cricket Council (ICC) coach Patrick Thomas who was supported by coach Nadisha, coach Krishna, coach Vijesh, coach Sudan, coach Samith and coach Jeevan.
The Seychelles Cricket Association (SCA) provided the necessary kits for the kids who were split into different groups: boys and girls under 8, under 12 and under 15. The coaching was customised based on the groups. The younger kids used the soft ball and plastic bats and the main aim was to encourage them to develop an interest for the sport and learn beginner level basics of cricket.
As for the older kids the aim was to help them develop their skills further and also impart to them an understanding of how to respect a sport and to inculcate a sense of discipline within them to understand the work ethic that is necessary to perform well in a sport.
The coaching sessions will be conducted every Saturday between 10am and 11am at the Persévérance cricket ground.
This event was sponsored by Grocers who brought juice pack for the children.
