Higher standards of healthcare on the horizon for Seychelles   |09 September 2022

Dr Claudia Mika, founder and chief executive of Temos International, is in Seychelles from September 8-10 to offer cooperation and support in the areas of healthcare accreditation programmes.

This follows an invitation extended to her by Dr Miodrag Todorovic at Panafricare Clinic who is also the head of the Temos Office for Seychelles.

Dr Mika’s visit marks a significant step for contributing towards the quality of Seychelles’ health sector, as well as for the potential benefits for our private and public health sector.

Dr Mika, during her visit, is meeting with the Minister for Health, Peggy Vidot, and the senior management team at the Ministry of Health. She is also familiarising herself in the private health sector with members of the Seychelles Private Clinics Association, as well as visiting the Temos Regional Office in Seychelles. 

Temos accreditation increases the quality of care, quality of services, reduces risks, supports patient and staff safety, and increases the quality of the health sector.

The accreditation programmes are designed to evaluate and validate the quality of medical and non-medical services, and to identify potential for improvements, thus giving the opportunity to achieve higher standards of healthcare.

Temos avoids the “one size fits all” approach to accreditation which does not work across cultures for providers or patients.

Dr Mika has worked with more than 100 hospitals and medical facilities worldwide, and has worked with Temos certification systems since 2004. She explains that Seychelles and Africa have a huge number of patients travelling abroad even for minor treatments. By promoting accredited hospitals being ready for domestic and international patients, we can help make the right choice of potential patients, medical tourism agents and local caregivers for raising the standards to provide local health services recognised internationally by end users and health insurance companies.
