Fourth-place finish for both local selections
Our two young under-20 selections could only manage a fourth-placed finish each at the indoor tournament of the Coupe des iles de l'Océan Indien which took place at the gymnase de Trois-Mares in Reunion.
In their matches for third and fourth place ranking yesterday, our girls’ selection lost 1-3 (25-22, 21-25, 9-25, 9-25) to Mauritius, while the boys lost by the same score to Reunion selection one.
The set scores were 14-25, 19-25, 25-21 and 20-25.
In the group stage, the girls lost all their three matches against the two selections from hosts Reunion and Mauritius, while the boys managed to collect a victory in their match against Reunion selection two, after losing their first two matches to Mauritius and the Reunion selection one.
The indoor tournament is being played on a league format, with group winners and runners-up playing the final, while the bottom two will battle for third place.
The competition will continue today with the one-day beach volleyball tournament where Seychelles will be represented by four teams (two girls and two boys).
In the boys’ competition, Adrian Cesar will pair up with Correy Toussaint, the other Seychelles’ team will be made up of Freddricko Young and Francesco Joubert.
In the girls’ group, Seychelles will be represented by Kella Bibi who will pair up with Amma Ernesta and Annonshata Bresson who will team up with Ahleen Antoine.
