Confederation africaine de volleyball (CAVB) Senior Beach Volleyball Championship

Adeline and Nourrice finished ninth overall

Seychelles finish 9th and 25th overall

 

The women and men’s national selection concluded the Confederation Africaine de Volleyball Senior Beach volleyball championship held in Agadir, Morocco in the ninth and 25th overall position respectively.

The men’s team comprising Ricky Vel and Gerry Lozaïque played in group C alongside Mozambique and Congo, while the female selection made up of Hillary Nourrice and Angelique Adeline was in group D with hosts Morocco, Mauritius and Sierra Leone.

In their first match, Vel and Lozaïque lost 0-2 (15-21 and 17-21) toCongo, before losing their second group match 0-2 (7-21, 11-21) to Mozambique.

In the matches for ranking, they lost 0-2 to Ivory Coast, before losing by the same score to Burundi.

The set scores were 19-21 and 17-21.

As for the women, they lost their initial match 0-2 (9-21 and 11-21) against neighbours Mauritius, before losing 0-2 to Morocco (12-21, 14-21) in their second group match.

They managed to register a victory in the group stage, beating Sierra Leone 2-0 (21-15, 21-9).

In their ranking match, Nourrice and Adeline emerged victorious of Congo 2-0 (21-16, 21-12), earning them the ninth spot overall at the competition.

Hosts Morocco are both men and women’s champions of the tournament, also finishing as women’s runners-up, leaving Mozambique in third place.

Mozambique are also men’s runners-up and third-place finishers.

The Seychelles selections were being accompanied by coach François Magloire and chairman of the Seychelles Volleyball Federation (SVF) Ronald Wong.
