Adam Moncherry misses out on semi-final after winning heat

Swimmer Adam Moncherry yesterday missed out on a chance to qualify for the semi-final of the men’s 100m butterfly at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England after finishing first in his heat.

Moncherry clocked 57.22 seconds at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre to win heat number two, but his time was not good enough to earn him a semi-final place.

Also contesting for a spot in the same event was Mathieu Bachmann who finished eighth in heat number five in 57.55 seconds.

Aaliyah Palestrini and Therese Soukup were also in action yesterday, competing in the women’s 100m freestyle.

In heat number three, Palestrini clocked one minute and 2.51 seconds (1:02.51) to finish seventh overall, while Soukup who swam in heat number four finished eighth in 1:02.09.

In judo, Jean-Michel Vidot lost his elimination bout in the men -66 kg category by ippon after 39 seconds to Australian Nathan Katz.
