Anse Etoile dim PLS Suns to maintain third spot

Anse Etoile have maintained third position on the league table after defeating PLS Suns 80-55 on Wednesday night, keeping them in the race for top-place finish in the second division.

In a slow-paced match, Anse Etoile came out stronger in the first quarter, winning it 14-8, before shifting to a stronger gear in the second period to outscore PLS Suns 23-13 to lead 37-21 at half-time.

Having lost the first two quarters, PLS Suns stepped up their game in the third quarter to slightly outscore Anse Etoile 21-19 and the scoreboard read 56-42 in Anse Etoile’s favour at the end of the third period.

With better instructions from coach Kenneth Domingue in the fourth and final quarter, Anse Etoile managed to score 24 points compared to 13 for PLS Suns, concluding the match with an 80-55 victory to stay third on the table.

Nigel Cafrine led the scoring for Anse Etoile with 17 points and Japha Evenor was PLS Suns’ top scorer with 12 points.

Anse Etoile have collected 11 points from five wins and a defeat in six matches played, trailing second-placed AB boys who have collected maximum 12 points out six matches.

Cascade Bullets who registered a 58-35 victory over Anse Royale on Tuesday are presently leading the standings on 13 point from six wins and one defeat in seven matches.

The defeat keeps PLS Suns eighth overall on seven points from five defeats and a single win out of six matches.
