SFA provides STC with warehouse for 6 months rent-free |23 July 2022
The board of the Seychelles Fishing Authority (SFA) has agreed to provide one unit measuring 954 square metres in the SFA warehouse at Providence for 6 months, rent-free, to the Seychelles Trading Company (STC).
This decision, taken by the board last month, represents a value of about R1.3m and comes as part of the ongoing national effort to reduce the cost of living in Seychelles.
The chairman of the SFA board, Radley Webber, said: “We always try, whenever possible, to do our part for the country through our sector, and as the current situation is negatively impacting us all, we need to look at other ways that we can help. We see that this agreement is a perfect example of this, as and when SFA looks at alternative ways that it can bring social benefits to the community.”
The chief executive of STC, Siana Bistoquet, welcomed this gesture which she said would be a great help to STC.
“The space is quite substantial, which is vital in our present economic circumstances where we need to import large quantities for better food security. This assistance from SFA will allow us to store extra food at no cost, which will benefit the population in general.”
The contract for this agreement has been signed by both Mrs Bistoquet and the chief executive of SFA, Nichol Elisabeth, which makes the facility available for STC for a two-year period, including the 6 months’ rent-free allocation from July to December 2022.
STC has already started making use of the facility to store food items.
