‘Buckinarms Palace is safe’ – management |22 July 2022

The management of the Au Cap based club Buckinarms Palace has refuted allegations that the establishment is unsafe after a picture depicting several weapons mostly knives, purporting to be from the establishment, was shared on social media earlier this week.
In an interview with Seychelles NATION yesterday afternoon, the establishment’s owner, Robert Marie, confirmed the picture was showing weapons seized by his security officers from March this year onwards.
He has reassured Buckinarms Palace patrons that the place is safe and has stringent measures in place to deter any anti-social or criminal activity.
“Security has been our top priority since we opened our doors in 2019 and it remains so till today,” he said.
Mr Marie said the management reviewed its security measures earlier this year, and beefed up security as it anticipated that there could be more unruly and violent behaviour following the lockdown.
“I am a trained military expert and from my training and experience I knew that the lockdown would have a psychological impact on people, rendering them more aggressive, so we decided to review our security measures. I am glad we have been able to intercept these items,” he said.
Buckinarms Palace confirmed that most of the weapons and alcohol are smuggled in by women and although they do get some resistance from the perpetrators, 98% of the patrons give their full cooperation.
