Reshab Sewraj dominates with stunning score

Finishing with 44 points, Reshab Sewraj was declared the winner of the second John Richardson’s Memorial tournament played on Saturday July 2 at the Seychelles Golf Club.

Mr Richardson was a pillar to the Seychelles golfing community who left us early 2021. His wife and son decided to host the memorial each year in remembering a dear golfer, friend and mentor to many at the golf club.

Thirty (30) members took part on the lovely sunny day, in a Stableford format event over 18 holes.

Some very good scores where posted on the front nine by several members including Prakash Chetty, Zia Rizvi both on 20 points, Vishal Sewraj put 22 points and best was his son Reshab Sewraj with a stunning 24 points. It would remain to be seen however if those top scorers would stay strong with another nine holes remaining.

While some did fade away, young Reshab, fresh off winning the inaugural Airtel competition the week before, came in with 20 points totalling him to an unbeatable 44 points to take top honours once again.

He edged out his father Vishal Sewraj to second place on 38 points, while Bryan Webster, a new member of the Seychelles Golf Club (SGC), came thirdwith 37 points. Fourth place was taken by Mark Jeyasingh with 36 points winning on count back over Zia Rizvi who also had 36 points.

Subsidiary prizes up for grabs went to Adrian Andrade for longest drive, nearest the pins on two different holes ‒ one to Bryan Webster and another to Charlie Morin.

The Seychelles Golf Club would like to take this opportunity to thank the Richardson family once again for their support and continuation of this memorial event. Mrs Richardson and her son Edmund have already confirmed that they are preparing for a third John Richardson Memorial to be held in 2023.
