Seychelles will take part in the Cosafa Cup from July 5-17 in Durban, South Africa and have been drawn in group A alongside Angola, Comoros and Botswana.

The draw was conducted at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in host city Durban on Tuesday.

The Seychelles team will train today at 5pm, followed by two sessions on Saturday ‒ morning at 7.30am and afternoon at 4pm ‒ and they will have another session on Sunday morning at 7.30am.

Group B is made up of Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius and Eswatini.

Teams will play each other on a round-robin format in their respective groups and only the top team in each pool will advance to the quarterfinals. They will join Madagascar, Namibia, Zambia, hosts South Africa, Mozambique and Senegal who are already in the knockout stage.

The quarterfinals are as follows: Madagascar vs Namibia, Zambia vs winners Group A, South Africa vs Mozambique and Senegal vs winners Group B.

The winners of the quarterfinals will advance to the semifinal round, while the losers will drop into the plate competition.

West African guest nation Senegal are taking part for a second year in a row after they finished runners-up behind South Africa in 2021.

Durban will host the competition for the second time after the 2019 event won by Zambia who defeated Botswana in the decider.

South Africa and Zambia will be hoping to join Zimbabwe on six tournament wins this year having each won five. Angola (three) and Namibia (one) are the only other winners of the regional showpiece event.

Mozambique, Malawi, and Botswana have all twice been finalists, but ended up on the losing side on both occasions. Lesotho are the only other team to reach the decider.
