Local International Laser Class Association (ILCA) sailors (previously known as the Laser class), Dean Mathiot and Loïc D’Offay left Seychelles on Thursday for a three-month training camp with SailCoach in Malta.

Mathiot and D’Offay are using the training camp in preparation for major international sailing events. While Mathiot is preparing for the 51st Allianz 2022 Youth World Sailing Championships in The Hague, Netherlands from July 8-15, D’Offay is gearing up for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games’ sailing event.

Over 450 of the world’s very best youth sailors from 69 countries have confirmed their participation in the Allianz Youth World Sailing Championships 2022. The championships are open to young sailing stars up to the age of 19 and will take place off the coast of Scheveningen in The Hague.

The training has been made possible through the sponsorship and support provided by the National Sports Council, the Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (Socga) and the Seychelles Yachting Association as well as the kind support of SailCoach in Malta, who are sponsoring the coaching fees for both sailors.

The Seychelles Yachting Association would like to thank all partners for their support and wish the two sailors, Mathiot and D’Offay, good winds.

SailCoach is a Maltese based company with over 26 years of coaching experience, specialising in the high-performance development of ILCA sailors.
