Beach Soccer Real Maldives SFF League champions |01 June 2022
Real Maldives are the Seychelles Football Federation beach soccer league champions.
The Anse Etoile-based team have finished the one-round league with 29 points after 10 wins including one after extra-time and a loss in 11 games played.
One Stone have had to accept the runners-up position after accumulating 28 points from 11 matches played ‒ 10 wins including two after extra-time and a defeat.
In beach soccer, teams earn three points for a win after normal time (three periods of 12 minutes each) two points for a win in extra-time of three minutes and one point for a win on penalties. This is because there are no draws in beach soccer.
One Stone would have finished first had they not lost three points for fielding an illegal player.
Twelve (12) teams ‒ Real Maldives, One Stone, Club Stormy Taka, Equator, Sunrise, Beach Boys, Glacis, Vision, MLUH, Sorry, Au Cap and Marine Maintenance ‒ took part in the championship and they played each other once at the beach soccer stadium in Roche Caïman.
Meanwhile, the organisers have released the league table based on the sporting results, but the standings are subject to changes as there are pending cases. They await result of a disciplinary hearing which could see teams lose points.
On the other hand, they have confirmed that if there is a point deduction, this won’t affect the top two teams.
Sports NATION has learned from a reliable source that Club Stormy are the team at the centre of controversy since they have fielded an unregistered player and the disciplinary committee was taking a ruling on the matter.
