Sarah Rene withdraws both cases against the ACCS |18 May 2022

Through her attorney Joel Camille, former First Lady Sarah Rene has withdrawn both cases against the Anti-Corruption Commission of Seychelles before the constitutional court and the court of appeal regarding a bond of US $2 million imposed by the Supreme Court in the case of the missing US $50 million donated to Seychelles in 2002 by the Abu Dhabi government.

The case was asking the constitutional court to declare the two financial bail conditions of US $2 million, along with two guarantees – US $1 million each – as a violation of her right under Article 18 of the Seychelles Constitution.

However, the conditions were voided when Anti-Corruption Commission of Seychelles (ACCS) requested that the accused in the case are released, pending amendment in the charges against them, necessitating adjustment in the laws.

The amendments have been brought before the National Assembly for approval, and since the conditions are void, there is no need to further the cases.
