Tennis - Diguois take part in camp and tournament

The Seychelles Tennis Association achieved one more important activity on its timeline before January 2020.

It organised a one-week tennis camp on La Digue for 28 kids and ended the camp with a two-day tournament to test the players. Leading the camp were Seychelles Tennis Association (STA) head coach Nicolaus Leringa and physical education instructor Guillemène Ladouce from La Digue.

STA chairperson Fatime Kanté and ordinary member Peggy Chang-Tave also travelled to La Digue and they met with parents of players, tennis players/lovers who are interested in seeing their sport nurture.

The Diguois had the following requests:

-         more exchange with people from Mahé,

-         continuous support from the Seychelles Tennis Association,

-         more support from the National Sports Council, Seychelles Olympic and Commonwealth games Association (Socga) and sponsors,

-         have a La Digue tennis club and a La Digue tennis committee that will report to the STA.

STA would like to say a big thank you to coaches Nicolaus and Guillemène for successfully conducting the one-week camp and tournament for the kids on La Digue, the parents and tennis players for being present since day one, STA ordinary member Emilie Gedeon for helping with the preparation of certificates for the kids, Ms Chang-Tave for accompanying chairperson Kanté to meet with the kids, parents and tennis lovers on La Digue to discuss ways that STA can boost up this sport on the island and also helped with the organisation of the prize-giving ceremony, STA executive members, Sylvette Esparon for helping with the administrative side of the camp and tournament, Souienne Bibi for her valuable contribution in developing tennis on La Digue, tournament referees Naomie Nibourette and Kesha Zoé, and sponsors Derreck Bonté, Rhuddy Niole, Christina Niole, Annick Fanchette, Sylvette Esparon, STA, National Sports Council, Mr Ladouce and Ms Nibourette.

To also show their appreciation, the La Digue players presented a token to coach Leringa.
