Assembly’s IAC meets with Cuban ambassador |23 March 2022
The International Affairs Committee (IAC) of the National Assembly met with the ambassador of Cuba to Seychelles, Martha Hernández Caneiro, who was accompanied by the Minister Councilor, Thomás Méndez Parra and the principal counsellor from the Foreign Affairs department, Myrna Hoareau.
The aim of the meeting was to establish dialogue with the IAC and re-activate the Seychelles-Cuba Friendship Parliamentary Group.
On behalf of the IAC, the vice-chairperson of the Committee, Hon. Wavel Woodcock, thanked the Cuban embassy for the help and support it has given and is still giving Seychelles, especially in the field of health & sport.
In addition to that Mr Méndez Parra gave a short and detailed overview of the Cuban Parliament, their Internal Affairs Committee and the role of the parliamentary friendship group.
To conclude, it was agreed anonymously by all IAC members present to rekindle the friendship committee and other common areas of interest were discussed.
Both Parties are looking forward to working together for a better future.
