International Women’s Day

Chinese ambassador hosts ladies to tea party

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the Chinese ambassador to Seychelles, Guo Wei, invited a few ladies for a tea party at her residence at Eden Island.

A tea party is symbolic in the Chinese culture and it is considered to be a special event in China. It is a time to relax and enjoy the taste and the smell of the tea. The Chinese tea ceremony is all about the tea. The smells and taste are the most important parts of the ceremony, so the rules for making and pouring the tea are not always the same.

Apart from the nice traditional tea, the guests were able to benefit from the traditional Chinese medicine in activities such as acupuncture, cupping and auricular points with plaster.

Among the guests present were Minister Marie-Céline Zialor; Minister Rose Marie Hoareau; PS for Foreign Affairs Vivienne Fock-Tave; vice-chancellor of the UniSey, Joelle Perreau; director of Confucius Institute, Wang Dongxia; female representative of Chinese Medical Team Doctor Zhang Weikun; female representative of Seychelles-China Trade and Business Promotion Association Jiang Jiali and the embassy's female diplomats.

The accompanying photos show some highlights of the activity.
