Joshua Miller breaks 200m breaststroke short course record

Young Seychellois swimmer Joshua Miller has broken the national short course 200m breaststroke record with a time of 2 minutes 24.66 seconds (2:24.66) achieved during the Gauteng SC Grand Prix championship.

The championship was held over two days ‒ March 12-13, 2022 ‒ at the WaHoo swimming pool arena, in Pretoria, South Africa.

Miller was ranked second in his race behind winner Matthew Randle of Tuks Swimming Club (2:16.29).

The previous 200m breaststroke short course record of 2:28.00 belonged to Raymond Bonne and he set it 25 years ago at the Meeting de l’Océan Indien in Reunion in December 1997.

Miller also took part in the 50m breaststroke (third with 29.38 seconds), 100m breaststroke (third with 1:04.14) and 200 individual medley (14th with 2:19.24).

Miller, who will be turning 18 later this year, is currently studying in Pretoria at the Curro College and is training under the leadership of coach Ryan Van Zyl with the Tuks Swimming club.
