Volleyball: National League division two Racing Club beat Juniors to strengthen second position |21 August 2019
With a win over Juniors, the Racing Volleyball Club have strengthen their second position in the men’s league division two, increasing their chance of automatic promotion next season.
Still unbeaten in the league, Racing are now on 21 points from seven wins.
In their last match, they beat fifth-placed Juniors 3-1 to climb further up and closer to a possible title.
The set scores were 25-21, 20-25, 25-22 and 25-19.
Despite being second, Racing have two matches in hand over leaders Airwaves who are on 22 points after nine matches.
The defeat keeps Juniors in the fifth position on 12 points from four wins and four defeats in eight matches.
In the other men’s division two match played, reigning champions Outsiders suffered their fifth defeat this season, this time 1-3 at the hands of Anse Royale.
The set scores were 10-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 25-21.
Following the defeat, Outsiders remain seventh on 10 points, while the victory pushes Anse Royale third on 18 points.
St Francis Brothers were also in action where they registered a 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-18) victory over Neo Youth.
The win was the third for St Francis this season and they are now eighth on nine points. As for Neo Boyz they remain last without any point after eight defeats in as many matches.
In the women’s league, St Francis Sisters came back from a set down to beat St Louis Bombers 3-1 (20-25, 25-20,25-13, 25-16) to move third on 20 points. The defeat kept Bombers seventh overall on 13 points.
In the other women’s match played, Tryers registered a 3-1 victory over Arsu Youth, placing them tenth overall on three points.
The set scores were 25-14, 20-25, 25-20 and 20-17.
Arsu Youth remain at the bottom without any point after ten defeats in as many matches.
