President meets Seychellois community in Belgium |21 February 2022
President Wavel Ramkalawan, who is currently heading a delegation on an overseas mission in Brussels, Belgium, on Friday evening met members of the Seychellois community living and working in Belgium.
Addressing them, the president expressed how honoured he was to host this gathering with the Seychellois in Brussels and to have the opportunity to interact and exchange views.
The president highlighted examples of Seychellois professionals living abroad who have committed to donating their expertise and time to help in the development of Seychelles, hence he made a special appeal to the diaspora in Brussels to follow suit for the betterment of Seychelles.
“Thank you for coming today. It is very heart warming to share this moment with you all. As you know, since taking office we have put emphasis on the role each and every Seychellois can play in the advancement of our country. We all have a patriotic duty to help push our country forward,” said President Ramkalawan.
The meeting with the head of state was an opportunity for the members present to discuss how the Seychelles diaspora can contribute and play a greater role in the development of Seychelles.
The president shared with them his aspirations for Seychelles and the progress made since assuming office.
Also present were the Designated Minister and Minister for Fisheries and the Blue Economy, Jean-Francois Ferrari; Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde; and the Seychelles ambassador accredited to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union, Beryl Samson.
