All-Africa Senior Badminton Championship |18 February 2022

Seychellois trio to take part in individual events

Seychelles is being represented at the ongoing All-Africa Senior Badminton Championship taking place in Kampala, Uganda, by a four-member delegation including three players.

The players are Jakim Renaud, Luo Jie, and Alisen Camille. They are being accompanied by former player-turned-coach Juliette Ah-Wan.

Renaud, Jie and Camille will only line up in the individuals events since the women’s and men’s team events have already reached the knockout stage. They will play the women’s and men’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles events starting today up to Sunday February 20 when the finals will be played.

A record 13 countries took part in the women’s and men’s team events for a chance to represent Africa at the Thomas & Uber cup finals in May.

In yesterday’s finals, hosts Uganda were to meet Egypt in the women’s match and Egypt were to clash with Algeria in the men’s encounter.
