Seychelles team launches sports tourism at Dubai Expo Sports tourism launched as investment prospect |12 February 2022
The Minister for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Industry Devika Vidot officially launched Sports Tourism as an investment prospect to several attendees at the Dubai Expo yesterday morning.
Speaking at the event, the minister highlighted the fact that Sports Tourism carries great investment potential and that the activity could not only revolutionise the industry of sports and tourism but also firmly build the
entrepreneurial landscape of Seychelles.
“So far, our sports industry compared to its tourism industry is an area of significant but untapped potential in the general sense. Seychelles has a good international track record with the pioneering of new, innovative
projects, such as with our championing of the blue economy strategy at the African level. It is no surprise therefore, that we would like to explore the opportunities that sports will offer in all range of disciplines but
with particular focus on water sports,” said the minister.
She further stated that government is committed to facilitating this new venture in Seychelles and strongly believes in inclusivity as well as in the power of mutually beneficial partnerships.
Additionally at the event, speeches were delivered by representatives from the Seychelles Investment Bureau (SIB), Blue Economy, and the departments of Sports and Tourism.
Following opening remarks by speakers, the minister and her delegation engaged in further networking activities with attendees present.
Key to note is that yesterday Minister Vidot attended the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor event where the Global entrepreneurship report was presented.
More bilateral talks are expected to be held over the next few days.
