Covid-19 : Revision of public health and social measures Opening hours of shops extended to 9pm effective February 11 |12 February 2022

As of yesterday February 11, opening hours of shops have been extended from 7pm to 9pm while the conditions of sales of alcohol and other measures required by the Seychelles Licensing Authority and the Public Health Authority remain in place, the Ministry of Health announced yesterday.

Other measures that have been revised are as follows:

-           All sports, including team sports, may resume normal practice and competitions. All participants must follow the venue and federation/association SOPs.

-           Meetings, seminars and workshops may be conducted within the conditions, including the number of participants, defined in the approved venue SOPs.

Review of other measures in place is ongoing and any changes will be announced in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile other public health measures not mentioned but which was enforced in the review before this one, are still in force and should be equally adhered to.

The revisions come as Seychelles continues to register a steady decline in the number of cases of Covid-19 and a corresponding drop in admissions.

However, young children represent a high proportion of new infections and there has been an increase in death especially among older persons.

In keeping with the decline in transmission, changes to the Public Health and Social Measures (PHSM) in place are being carried out.

At the same time, people must be conscious that there are still vulnerable groups in society who still need protection. Vaccination remains an important part of that protection and those that have not been vaccinated or received their third dose/booster should get vaccinated without delay.

While measures are being relaxed progressively, everyone must remain conscious of the need to protect each other by applying all preventive measures, like maintaining social distancing and wearing of masks.
