New batch of breathalysers and drug test kits to boost the ‘Arrive Alive’ campaign |17 December 2021
The Seychelles Police Force has received a boost to its fight against crime and undesirable behaviour in the communities through a batch of breathalysers and drug test kits from the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don.
The equipment was handed over to Commissioner of Police (ComPol) Ted Barbe by Seychelles honorary consul in Moscow and Restov Region Dmitry Sergeevich Kislov during a ceremony held yesterday at the police headquarters in Victoria.
Present were the Russian ambassador to Seychelles, Artem Alexandrovich Kozhin, Deputy ComPol Ron Bonnelame, members of a visiting delegation from the city of Rostov-on-Don, along with senior officers of the force.
The gift is part of the newly signed Twinning Agreement on Establishing Friendly Exchange City Relations between Victoria, Republic of Seychelles and the city of Rostov-on-Don (see separate story on page 4).
Ambassador Kozhin noted that with the high number of Russian visitors, as well as businessmen in the country, the donation is to ensure that Seychelles remains a safe place for them to enjoy their holiday.
He acknowledged the hard work being done by the police force to maintain peace and stability in the country, while one serious element of stability and order is road safety.
Ambassador Kozhin also extended invitations to the Seychelles Police Force to Russia for specialised training in different elements of policing.
On behalf of the police force, ComPol Barbe thanked the city of Rostov-on-Don for the equipment which he said will boost the service rendered by the force in its endeavour to maintain peace and stability in every aspect of life in the country.
He noted that it has come at an opportune time since it will be a boost to the end of year ‘Arrive Alive’ campaign and festive season national campaign.
