Young sailors follow training camp in Spain |23 November 2021
Two young sailors ‒ Loïc D’Offay and Dean Mathiot ‒ are following a month-long training camp in Spain.
The training is sponsored by SailCoach and the two young sailors left last Thursday night.
Mathiot will be back home on December 20, while D’Offay will return earlier, on December 9, in time for him to head to Oman to take part in the 2021 Youth Sailing World Championships. The event will be held at Mussanah Sports City, Oman, from December 11-18, 2021.
The last Youth Sailing World Championships were held in Gydnia, Poland in 2019. A total of 409 male and female sailors from 66 nations competed across nine youth events. The 2020 Youth Worlds were scheduled to be held in Salvador, Brazil, in December 2020, but the event was unfortunately cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
SailCoach has been at the forefront of Laser sailing since 1996 and its founder, Trevor Millar, has been coaching Lasers and other small boats since 1972.
A number of Seychellois sailors, including Allen Julie and Rodney Govinden, have trained with SailCoach in the past.
