Minister Valentin meets President Johannesson |13 November 2021
Education Minister, Dr Justin Valentin met the President of Iceland Guoni Th. Johannesson, on November 11 in Paris, France.
They met at a reception hosted by the permanent delegation of Iceland to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) for small islands developing states on the sidelines of the 41st General Conference of Unesco.
President Johannesson and Minister Valentin exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including education.
Iceland has an economic base that is quite similar to that of Seychelles as fishing and tourism are key industries in both countries. However, Iceland has a much more advanced tertiary sector than Seychelles and its services are centred around biotechnology and computer science.
Unlike Seychelles which is dependent on imported fuel, Iceland’s main energy source is renewable energy which is available domestically. Iceland is the world’s seventh most productive country in the world.
