Twenty-five community leaders from the Everlasting Love Ministry have followed a two-day training to boost their capacity in counselling and mentoring.

The training took place at the Roche Caïman district administration office.

The Everlasting Love Ministry is a non-governmental and non-denominational organisation with the goal to reach out to the people of Seychelles to bring about love and hope to all.

“Our partner from South Africa, Martin Burke, is still here and we seized the opportunity to train our community leaders. Every year we conduct such trainings but with the pandemic we did not do the training,” explained Jude Fred, chairperson and founder of the organisation.

After the two days of training the community leaders will be on the field.

“Many people are looking for counselling services and this training will also help in increasing the capacity of the mentors. We need to empower our people spiritually as what we are seeing in the society right now is a lack of spirituality. This will also help our mentors to stay strong and firm in the service they provide,” added Mr Fred.

The ministry was formed in 2010 with a vision from the Lord given to the founder, Jude Fred and his wife Jeannette Fred. The vision is to bring together the people of Seychelles without discrimination while pulling them away from negative lifestyles.

Over the past 10 years many programmes, activities and projects at community and national levels have been organised in line with the ministry’s objectives such as: Gather Youths for Jesus without discrimination; Bringing Love and Hope to the people of Seychelles; Reach out to the youth pulling them away from negative lifestyles; Providing an alternative lifestyle through education and skills development and Rehabilitating people from substance abuse and integrating them back in society.
