Cuban ambassador, Speaker Mancienne discuss revival of Cuba-Seychelles parliamentary friendship group

The new Cuban ambassador to Seychelles, Martha Hernandez Caneiro, on Monday paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Roger Mancienne at Ile Du Port.

During their talks, Ambassador Caneiro conveyed compliments from the Speaker of the National Assembly of the People’s Power of Cuba to the National Assembly of Seychelles through Speaker Mancienne.

The two personalities explored ways to revive the Parliamentary Friendship Group between the two parliaments to share best practices and experiences.

The longstanding bilateral relations between Cuba and Seychelles in fields such as education and health were also highlighted and the possibility to further strengthen relations in these areas, were explored.

They also discussed and stressed on the need to exchange experiences on issues affecting both countries such as climate change and the environment.  

Ambassador Caneiro was accompanied on the visit to the National Assembly of Seychelles by Tomas Mendez Parra, the Council Minister from the embassy of the Republic of Cuba while the Clerk to the National Assembly, Tania Isaac, also attended the talks.
