Back to normal business after IOIG break
With the 10th Indian Ocean Islands Games done and dusted, volleyball actions were back at the La Promenade Gymnasium last weekend with five second division league matches on schedule, with four of them finishing in straight sets.
In the women’s division two, in the battle of the Pearls, SeyPearl were up against Island Pearls, with the former winning in straight sets 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-17).
Valley Volleyball Club were also in action during the weekend and they were up against inner island side La Digue United.
After a comfortable 2-0 (25-10, 25-12) lead the Valley Volleyball Club dropped the third set which they lost 20-25, reducing their lead to 2-1.
Not wanting to play a fifth and decider set which could have gone either way, the Valley Volleyball Club clinched the fourth set 25-14 to win the match 3-1.
In the third women’s match on the programme, Juniors met Tryers where they registered a 3-0 victory. The set scores were 25-9, 25-16 and 25-19.
In the men’s league, St Louis went back to their winning ways with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-18) win over La Digue Brothers, while in the other match, the inner island selection were once again on the losing side following their second defeat – 0-3 – at the hands of Airwaves. The set scores were 12-25, 24-26 and 17-25.
