Nisa staff’s ordeal worsens with noise disturbance |25 October 2021
For another weekend, staff of the National Information Services Agency based in the parking lot opposite the Amusement Centre on Laurier Road had to put up with noise disturbance when putting the Seychelles NATION newspaper to bed.
The parking lot is open to all and it is normal for people to come together, but what is incomprehensible is the loud music, not from one vehicle, but a number of vehicles blaring music at the same time.
It is time for people to understand that when they are enjoying themselves there are others who are at work and need to concentrate on what they have to do.
Some people have their vehicle sound system up so loud the bass alone shakes the building housing the National Information Services Agency’s (Nisa) publishing division.
Each time, we phone the police, they show up and disperse the crowds, but last night we were told that they had too many fight scenes to deal with and would only assist us when they have finished at the other scenes.
In the meantime, our ordeal worsened as the hours passed.
We once again call on the authorities to act quickly as the health of staff of the National Information Services Agency is aggravating with all the noise as staff feel mounting anxiety every day.
We also call on all concerned to play their roles in bringing some order in the parking lot both during the day and at night.
The situation during the day has not improved even though the Seychelles Land Transport Agency has demarcated the parking areas. This is because drivers are still stationing their vehicles in no parking areas (in the middle of the parking lot), making it difficult for other vehicles to manoeuvre.
