National Assembly pays tribute to teachers |06 October 2021

The National Assembly of Seychelles yesterday recognised all teachers and educators across Seychelles, with a special message to mark Teachers’ Week.

Speaker Roger Mancienne acknowledged teachers as a special group of people, who act as second parents to children.

Speaker Mancienne called out to everyone to support teachers in their efforts in shaping and charting the future of the country, which rests in their hands.

Chief Whip of the United Seychelles (US) party, Sylvanne Lemiel, said that teachers are a special group who should be valued for the noble profession.

They should be encouraged through incentives to keep them in the profession. Noting that they delivered amid the Covid-19 pandemic, she called out to parents to keep extending their help to teachers.

Additionally, Hon. Lemiel thanked all teachers for their hard work and dedication in educating the future generations, and wished them a happy Teachers’ Week.

For his part, Chief Whip of the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) Sandy Arrissol in a brief message echoed similar sentiments, on behalf of party members.

He firstly conveyed thanks to teachers and educators for their key role in shaping the children of Seychelles, and proceeded to do the same for non-teaching staff that assist and support teachers in delivering.

Similarly, he called out to parents to appreciate and valorise teachers for their commitment to the noble profession, and to show respect and love towards them.
