Mercianne Cesar from Anse Aux Pins and M. Confait from Belonie are the two new millionaires in Seychelles after winning the major prizes in the Mini Maz Millions lottery.

Ms Cesar with ticket number 12732 won the star prize of R1.5 million while Mr Confait, with ticket number 29419, won the first prize of R1 million.

The lottery draw took place yesterday evening at the Maz Millions head office, Quadrant Building in Victoria and it was five blindfolded youths who picked out the numbers from a barrel.

The 2nd prize of R500,000 has been won by Kevin Morel from Anse Royale with ticket number 06526.

Contacted by phone, Ms Cesar said she felt emotional as she was not expecting to win the prize.

She added that she bought only one ticket from a ticket vendor in Market Street. She added that it was a family member who informed her that she had won the prize and that was followed by other calls.

She said she was watching television at that time.

“After all the problems I‘ve been through, God has blessed me and now I will be able to move forward with my family,” said the 40-year-old who is living with her husband and three children.

“I do not know for now what I will do (with the money) but I know it will serve me right,” she added.

Marie-France MacGregor of Maz Millions said that a total of 30,980 tickets were issued for the draw and that she was not in a position last night to tell how many have been sold.

She took the opportunity to announce that the next Mini Maz Millions lottery will take place on December 31, 2021. The star prize will be R2 million, the first prize R1.5 million and the 2nd prize R1 million. A ticket for the draw will cost R500.

In 2022, Maz Millions will introduce a new game with details to be announced at a later date and a music talent competition for 12 to 30 year olds divided in three categories.

As for M. Confait , Seychelles NATION was not able to reach him for comment.

The names of all the other winners are expected to be published in Seychelles NATION tomorrow.
