Thai ambassador pays courtesy visit to Minister Joubert

The newly accredited ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Seychelles, Sasirit Tangulrat, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Agriculture, Climate Change and Environment, Mr Flavien Joubert, at Le Chantier Mall on Thursday last week.

Minister Joubert welcomed Ambassador Tangulrat to Seychelles and showed appreciation for the long and good bilateral cooperation that have existed between the two countries.

He stated that there are opportunities to strengthen the ties between the two countries.

On her part, the ambassador stated that this year marks the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations and that the two countries will continue to support each other in the field of environment and agriculture.

Both parties had lengthy discussions on various aspects of agriculture and environment. The Thai ambassador agreed to provide support in assisting the Seychelles Institute for Agriculture and Horticulture (SIAH) with its curriculum. Other areas of support include building the capacities of VET and also extension network services through collaboration of an agricultural college will be established as well as trade negotiations. The Thai government will continue to provide support to the Seychelles Parks and Gardens Authority (SPGA) and to take this relationship to another level.

Thailand is also willing to support the Bio-Circular-Green Economic Model or BCG introduced by the research community and promoted by the Thai government as a new economic model for inclusive and sustainable growth.

At the end of the meeting, the Thai ambassador presented the minister with a book.

Also present at the meeting were the principal secretaries for Agriculture and for Environment , Keven Nancy and Denis Matatiken respectively and the chief executive of the SPGA, Allen Cedras.
