The Seychelles People’s Defence Forces (SPDF) and the French Forces armées dans la zone sud de l’océan Indien (FAZSOI) based in La Reunion are once again participating in the ‘Cateau Noire’ exercise against maritime crime.

The joint bi-annual military exercise is aimed at building the capacity of both forces in the fight against piracy, illegal fishing, smuggling as well are narco-trafficking.

For this year, the exercise, taking place on land and at sea, is focusing on the fight against trafficking of illicit drugs. The board, search, seizure, fire fighting and firing exercise started off yesterday morning on the northern coast of Mahé and finishing miles away off the north western coast of Silhouette.

Seychelles NATION will come back on the exercise in a future edition.
