As part of its endeavour to boost staff’s personal development and increase their productivity, the Development Bank of Seychelles recently organised a training programme where ten staff members graduated with a certificate in banking.

Hosted by the Cutting-Edge Consultancy (CEC) and delivered by Ingrid Sinon, the training targeted mainly interns, beginners, junior staff and other banking staff in need of a refresher course.

The ten graduates received their certificates from the chairman of the Seychelles Bankers Association (SBA), Phillip Moustache, yesterday during a small ceremony held at the bank in the presence of its chief executive Jean Preira.

They are Jensie Barbe, Beryl Jeanne, Murielle Quilindo, Annie Furneau, Veronica Nibourette, Samira Marie, Telma Bonnelame, Sharel Arnephie, Chantal Fanchette and Lovelda Dugasse.

Ms Barbe also won the best performer award.

On behalf of the DBS, Ms Preira extended her appreciation to the SBA for coming up with the initiative to train staff in the banking industry and Ms Sinon for facilitating the training despite the Covid-19 challenges.

She also thanked the staff for their time, dedication and sacrifices during the training and also commended them for their excellent results.

Ms Preira also encouraged them to take the next challenge which is the intermediate part of the course since the training will be crucial in their personal development, including better performance and more productivity.

Addressing the staff, Mr Moustache noted that based on his long involvement in banking training, this cohort has been so far the best group with everyone enrolled successfully completing the training.

He also encouraged them to keep learning and take up the coming next steps which would lead to international certification since the more baggage they hold, the better assets they will become for their institution.

During the training, the participants covered ten modules, including Banking Fundamentals, Money and Banking, Bank Lines of Business, Building Customer Relationships, Legal Foundations in Banking, General Accounting, Analysing Financial Statements, Analysing Bank Performance, Fundamentals of Islamic Banking, as well as Compliance and Risk Management.

The CEC is a Seychellois-owned business consultancy with its headquarters based at Providence, Mahé.

Its official inception was on January 1, 2021 and as if in tandem with the new year, and a new normal, it brings about a new service for any and every business owner affected by Covid-19 and still motivated in not only keeping their heads above water, but thriving during these tough economic times.

The CEC is all about reinventing business success and does not shy away from being an innovative disruptor in the development of business transformation, which is crisis proof and successful from both a national and an international standpoint.

It is ready to build strong relationships with its clients and partners, aiming to become a need instead of a choice, which comes naturally through adding value and exceeding delivery expectations.
