India’s National Teacher’s Day celebrated |08 September 2021
The high commission of India celebrated India’s National Teacher’s Day at the Chancery premises on Monday.
Teacher’s Day in India is celebrated on September 5 which marks the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned philosopher, statesman and teacher who was the first Vice-President and the second President of Independent India.
The event that saw several Indian and Indian origin teachers in attendance began with a short documentary on the life of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Isidore Lopez and Selvi Karunakaran, two of the senior-most Indian and India-origin teachers shared their stories and experiences of teaching in Seychelles.
High Commissioner General Dalbir Singh Suhag addressed the gathering and spoke about the significant role played by teachers in shaping the future of their students. He also congratulated Nalinadevi
