National Assembly, SBC sign agreement to formalise their collaboration |11 August 2021

The National Assembly and the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation have signed an agreement to formalise the collaboration and cooperation between them.

This is with the aim for the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) to continue providing good quality audio-visual coverage of the National Assembly proceedings and to support the broadcast of these proceedings to better serve participatory democracy in Seychelles.

The two-year agreement was signed on Friday by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Roger Mancienne and the chairman of the SBC board Gerard Lafortune.

In attendance to witness the signing at the National Assembly were the chairperson of the media, youth and culture committee of the National Assembly, Hon. Wavel Woodcock, the vice-chairperson Hon. Philip Arissol and deputy clerk Alexandria Faure.

The agreement covers a range of areas such as the broadcast of the National Assembly sittings, editorial control, recording and live broadcast of Assembly proceedings, ownership and rights to recordings, communication as well as technical and financial support.

The media operations unit of the National Assembly now has full control of the filming of the live sittings of the National Assembly sessions and this includes the production of programmes for the institution. Officers in this unit operate the cameras, other video and photography devices to capture, record, broadcast and archive meetings and events.

The SBC has been instrumental in every step of this process and will remain a close partner of the National Assembly.
