Seychelles, Ethiopian Airlines hold joint promotional event at Tencent Beijing |09 August 2021
The Seychelles islands together with Ethiopian Airlines recently held a joint offline promotional event at Tencent Beijing headquarters to promote both the destinations and Ethiopian Airlines’ China-Seychelles route.
As Africa’s leading airline, Ethiopian Airlines has been one of the main airlines bringing travellers from China to Africa. When Ethiopian Airlines promoted its business and company travel route networks to different Chinese companies recently, many company employees belonging to the middle and high-income groups expressed their interest in leisure travel once they are able to travel again.
During the four-hour joint promotional event held by long-time partners Ethiopian Airlines and Tourism Seychelles, over 500 Tencent employees not only discovered the world of possibilities the airline route provides, but learnt more about what Seychelles has to offer as one of the most beautiful and protected island destinations in the world, all the while sipping a hot cup of authentic Ethiopian coffee.
"Tourism Seychelles and Ethiopian Airlines have always worked closely together and as the world slowly starts to open up again, we need to make sure that the Seychelles islands and Ethiopian Airlines remain one of the top tourism choices in the minds of potential visitors," said Jean-Luc Lai-Lam, the Tourism Seychelles director for China.
Tencent is a Chinese multinational company. It is the owner of Wechat (one of the most popular social media messaging apps in the world), the world’s largest video game vendor and one of the most financially valuable companies. The company surpassed a market value of US $500 billion in 2018, becoming the first Asian technology company to cross this valuation mark.
