Renovated Yellow House ready to welcome guests |18 August 2018
La Digue Island Lodge is now ready to allow its distinguished guests to enjoy the unique experience of its iconic Yellow House.
The recently renovated ‘Yellow House’, the famous La Digue colonial house, which dates back from the 1900s, is now back in operation and ready to welcome future guests.
The monument has been fully refurbished, preserving its original characteristics. It will continue providing our guests with the traditional Creole hospitality, which La Digue Island Lodge is renowned for.
The painstaking, meticulous restoration of the building has now given a new lease of life and will stand as strikingly photogenic in its entire splendour for generations to come.
This is part of our hotel’s environmental responsibility in our quest to maintain and preserve our cultural and historical heritage for posterity.
The house consists of seven bedrooms, each sleeping up two (double bed). One bedroom is located in the attic which overlooks the hotel garden with a panoramic view of the ocean overlooking the island of Praslin and has an idyllic romantic charm – our signature room!
Six rooms are located on the ground floor each featuring a spiral staircase that leads to your own spacious private bathroom. This accommodation is not recommended for disabled persons but provides a Robinson Crusoe feel of the bygone era!
