‘Grow up to be ideal citizens’
The patron and founder of the National Council for Children Geva Rene has asked the children to take a pledge to grow up to be ideal citizens and work for the betterment of Seychelles and the world.
This comes in Mrs Rene’s message on the occasion of Children’s Day today.
The full text of Mrs Rene reads:
“Though I cannot come to your schools today, I want to celebrate this day with you and wish you all a Happy Children’s Day.
“Two things I learned from you children during my teaching days and in my work at the National Council for Children were that: - ‘Children can be happy for no reason at all’ and secondly ‘children will always find themselves busy doing something worthwhile to occupy their time’. I hope you are doing that right now!
“I believe that you children spread joy and happiness in our homes and communities, as you are the most beautiful creation of God.
“You can spread fragrance of love wherever you go as you tend to stay where you get love.
“Dear parents! The best thing to spend on our children is our time, and the most important thing we can give to them is unconditional love. We get our rewards when we see the lovely smiles on their faces and are showered with innocent kisses and cuddles.
“Whatever they grow up to be, they are still our children.
“So dear parents and teachers! On this Children’s day, take the pledge that you would guide the children under your care towards becoming better humans.
“Children are the future. Nurture them right, so that they grow up to be able leaders. And lead the world towards light.
“And you my dear children. Celebrate this day – your day! And take a pledge to grow up to be ideal citizens and work for the betterment of Seychelles and the world.
“Happy Children’s Day 2018”
