Application for Summer Youth Assembly at the UN now open |29 May 2018
One of the objectives of UN Youth Seychelles (UNYS) is for Seychelles to be represented at the UN Youth Assembly (UNYA) every year. UNYS would like to invite interested participants, youth aged 16- 28 years old to apply for the UN Youth Assembly.
What is the UN Youth Assembly?
UNYA is held at the United Nations headquarters and is a four-day conference which aims to diagnose global issues encompassing social, economic and environmental facets by gathering youth, private sector and civil society from across the world. It is one of the three possible segments of the Summer programme organised by the Friendship Ambassadors Foundation.

What are the advantages of attending the Assembly?
- The partnership and spillover of knowledge of being among like-minded individuals will augment your understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
- Platform facilitates constructive criticism, discussions and problem solving to take place with distinguished members of the society
Experience gained can be implemented in future projects towards achieving SDGs in your society - Actively participate in discussions and come up with solutions to problems with the support of your peers
- Develop public-speaking, interpersonal, time management, presentation and team-working skills
Youth as one of the largest groups of people have the capacity to fast-track sustainable development in their respective societies as they are exposed to technological and innovative opportunities currently available.
Moreover, the opportunity at the Assembly further endows youth with skills and knowledge towards conceptualising creative solutions in order to achieve the SDGs.
What is the process of becoming a delegate of the Assembly?

- You will then get added on our list of potential delegates whereby more information on the UNYA will be provided and guidance from UNYS will begin
- Delegates will focus on mobilising funds via corporate sponsorship, self-financing or other means of payment to pay for the package
- Once applications are available, delegates will be guided through the application process
- Await response from Friendship Ambassadors Foundation
- Once delegates are accepted, further guidance will be provided
Kindly note that individuals will have to bear the expenses of the package and UNYS will only offer guidance to interested individuals with regards to the application process, preparation for the Assembly among other information. Deadline for Application is June 15, 2018.
