Football - Pointe Larue Bazar Boys launch fan club |12 February 2018
Bazar Boys launched their fan club during a get together at the Pointe Larue district administration on Saturday evening.
This being the second fan club launched inside a week as Glacis Football Club recently launched theirs, and this is due to continue throughout the weeks.
Clubs in the second and third divisions are being approached by the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) to open their fan club in order to increase their fan base and raise money for their different activities.
During Saturday’s gathering, many people showed up to give their support. They included people from the district, players, coaches and the manager of Pointe Larue Bazar Boys football club. In the audience were the member of the National Assembly for Pointe Larue Jude Valmont, district administrator Benita Melanie, SFF chairman Elvis Chetty and his advisor Gerry Sopha.
“We decided to approach all teams in Seychelles to create a fan club, but we started with the more vulnerable ones. In the coming weeks there will be more teams included. We did this because we feel that these teams need the support of a fan club which will have its own administration which will get to finance the team and also look for sponsors. When the team needs help, the fan club should be ready to support. Teams won’t need to struggle much to get equipment. The fan club will be the backbone of the club and this will help to keep the team going,” said Mr Sopha.
Pointe Larue Bazar Boys will play second division football this year after capturing the third division league title last year.
St John Bosco football club, who are also from Pointe Larue, are supposed to open their fan club in two weeks’ time, said Mr Sopha.
With the league yet to start, teams are making big improvements in trying to find ways to keep them moving forward. People are encouraged to provide help and support to their district’s teams to help them succeed both on and off the pitch.
