‘FutureNow’ Tech Shop Opens at Kanna Mall |29 December 2017

Young Seychellois entrepreneur with a strong passion for technology, Craig Grandcourt, opened the doors to a new shop specialising in the latest and modern technology gadgets on Wednesday December 13, in an attempt to supply Seychelles with futuristic solutions to everyday problems, at affordable prices.

The new outlet ‘FutureNow’ is located on the 1st floor of Kanna Mall in Victoria, next to the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) office in Room 104.

From the moment you walk in, you are instantly met with various ‘Xiaomi’, ‘DJI’ and ‘OnePlus’ products such as smartphones, drones, HD audio earphones and other technology solutions, many of which offer potential buyers a six month warranty.

According to Craig, OnePlus is often referred to as the ‘flagship killer’ for high-end specifications and low prices while DJI is said to be the most popular drone makers in the industry and aim their products at both hobbyists and professionals (Air Drone Craze).

Xiaomi is becoming an increasingly popular company offering very high quality products with high end hardware at affordable prices and Craig adds that they do not sacrifice anything in terms of built quality.

Aside from a line of smartphones, FutureNow also stocks Xiaomi’s‘4K Mi Box’ which offers a full Android TV experience and essentially allows you to turn a regular TV with a HDMI port into a ‘smart’ TV.

For those who have a bit of an active or adventurous lifestyle, such as fishermen, security officers and technicians, the outlet also offers heavy duty phones and according to Craig, these particular phones have excellent cameras and very powerful specifications.

Among other futuristic household appliances, customers will also be able to access ‘smart’ lights which are controlled by your phone. The all-in-one surveillance cameras offering night vision and Wi-Fi are aimed towards people seeking to enhance security at their homes or small businesses. The footage from the cameras can be viewed directly from your smartphone.

Speaking about the inspiration to open a modern but affordable tech shop, Craig says that being a tech-savvy person and after having tried the Xiaomi products himself, he realised that they offer very high quality products and features that other famous expensive brands offer but at much more reasonable prices.

Seeing this potential and knowing that there are other like-minded people in Seychelles, he decided to fill a gap that he identified in the local market.

“FutureNow caters for people who do not want to invest a lot of money in such items but still want the same latest and greatest features from popularly branded products. Xiaomi sources high quality components from other big companies like LG and Samsung so it is quality you can trust. Our customers can access these components without paying the high prices for branding,” says Craig.
