Gran Kaz brings Christmas cheer to a group of young people |22 December 2017
Gran Kaz upholds its commitment to the community by donating school items to a group of 50 vulnerable children from Bel Ombre.
The donation, comprising school bags, lunch boxes and bottles as well as stationery, were handed over yesterday afternoon at Gran Kaz Bel Ombre by the Gran Kaz public relations and communications manager, Shama Amesbury, to the Bel Ombre district administrator (DA) Sheril Louise.
The items will be given to children aged between four to seven years at their Christmas Party organised for them by the DA on Thursday next week.
During the handover Ms Amesbury stated that supporting schools and the community is an ongoing activity.
“Gran Kaz takes great joy in giving back to the community, so when the DA Louise contacted us to see if we would be willing to help them out in providing the necessary schools items to the children, there wasn’t even a moment of hesitation on our part,” she said.
She added that for Gran Kaz giving back to the community goes beyond obligation, it’s a matter of wanting to make an actual difference in the society.
“We have assisted a number of schools financially as well as in kind. For example, we assisted the Bel Eau primary school with a donation to help them rebuild their library, but even beyond the financial support, our staff of their own volition volunteered to go there and help repair and repaint their playground. It was touching for us to see the dedication and commitment, at such level, to give back to the community. It inspires us to do even more, and keep helping in whatever way we can,” she said.
Thanking Gran Kaz for such generosity, Ms Louise pointed out that the DA organises Christmas Party for young children within the community every year.
This year the emphasis is on helping vulnerable children to participate as well as giving them all their stationery and school items as well.
“Such gesture will help those vulnerable children for the festive season. Some parents are struggling during this time of the year, and with the help of Gran Kaz, they will have a smile on their faces and enjoy Christmas,” she said.
Gran Kaz has also contributed towards assisting the Bel Eau primary school in its planned ‘Reading Garden Project’ were it donated a cheque for R100,000 in 2016.
The following year it donated another cheque worth R100,000 to the Alphonse Foundation which was used to study the Red Footed Booby (fou bet), and also contributed towards the sport department in the form of uniforms to the Under- 17 football team.
Recently it donated new boxing shoes and new sets of uniforms to Seychellois boxers.
