UniSey holds second interdisciplinary research conference |08 November 2017
The University of Seychelles (UniSey) held its second inter-disciplinary research conference on Monday under the theme ‘Seychelles and Beyond; Connections and Comparisons’.
Prominent speakers mainly in the field of education presented their research experiences based on Comparative Research Methodologies; Comparative Research in Education ; Comparative Studies in Social Development and Research in the Blue Economy and Sustainable Development.
Present were the vice-chancellor of the UniSey, Professor Dennis Hardy; local and international officials from the UniSey itself, Ministry of Local Government, North West University of South Africa.
Professor Charl Wolhuter, from the Faculty of Education Sciences, North West University, Republic of South Africa, made a presentation at the conference entitled ‘Comparison as Research Method’. His research interests include comparative sciences and interdisciplinary approaches to comparative education.
In other presentations, the speakers spoke about approaches to ‘creolity’ in the Indian Ocean region: social constructions, political uses and touristification of Creole identity; children as right holders – an outdoor learning case study of the Bush School project in Western Australia and the teacher as an agent or changing student behaviour and aspirations, just to name some.
