J&F Collection for all your local souvenirs |18 September 2017

J&F Collection Souvenir Shop was set up two years ago and is owned by Josianne Doris Fabbri, a Seychellois who lived in Italy.

The shop is located on Bel Air road opposite the old Vines shop, near the historical Bel Air cemetery and ancient ‘lavwar’.

Artisanal works with local or Creole designs such as  sewing products, craftwork, necklaces with local seeds and also some packaging, hand-painted pictures, caftans, bags and pareos are available there.

The hand-painted pictures that Josianne prints on her collection of caftans, bags, pareos etc.. are painted by a local artist also from Bel Air.

J&F Collection also has a website - www.jfcollection.net – on which all her products are featured.

“I started in 2008 while I was in Italy. This business came about when I came back in 2011.  As I was thinking of something to do, that business idea was the only one which came to mind,” says Josianne.

At present she works alone and is targeting any clients.

“So far it is going well. The more marketing one does, the more business one gets,” she says.

Josianne elaborates more on her business:

“I sew and design all my bags, caftans, shirts myself. All my items are locally made. The bracelets, pictures and frames, paintings on the vacoa bags are all made by an artist residing at Bel Air.”

Josianne says sales are going quite well up to now but it depends on the owner to market her products.

How the idea of a craft business came about?

“When I was in Italy I used to buy magazines on ‘help yourself – learn to sew’. I started doing patchworks and sewing bags, sometimes which attracts me a lot. When I came back to Seychelles I brought all my materials with me like beads etc… Then I launched myself in artisanal work. As I did not have a place to sell my products, I registered with Senpa. As my current place was unoccupied, I made a request with the district administration for the place and here I am,” says Josianne.

J&F Collection Souvenir Shop can be contacted on tel: 2500116. Potential clients wanting to buy the products can also contact Josianne through her website at www.jfcollection.net. or via email jfcollectionseychelles@gmail.com
