High Commissioner Sayeed hoists Indian flag

The high commissioner of India to Seychelles, Dr Ausaf Sayeed, hoisted the Indian flag during a solemn function held at India House at Petit Barbarons yesterday, August 15, 2017 at 9am, to mark the 70th anniversary of India’s Independence.

The function was attended by more than 200 people. 

The high commissioner greeted all the assembled Indian citizens, members of Indian diaspora and Seychelles friends. 

He then read out excerpts from the address by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, on the occasion of India’s Independence Day anniversary, exhorting the Indian people to draw inspiration from the brave Indian freedom fighters; highlighting the strong partnership between the Indian citizens and Indian government; and extolling the spirit of empathy, compassion, social service and volunteerism among the people of India.

On that same day in New Delhi, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, addressed the people of India from the ramparts of Delhi’s Red Fort.
