New pig bloodline getting prepared to start reproduction |12 April 2017

The Seychelles Agriculture Agency (SAA) is in the process of preparing its new pig bloodline to start reproduction. The new bloodline is from South Africa.

The total of 50 piglets comprise 42 gilts and 8 boars. They are all pure breeds of 3 races: Duroc, Large white and land race. They entered the country late last year and have already passed through the quarantine stage.

The main objective of importing the new pig bloodline from South Africa is for the SAA to improve its local pig breed.
