Academic calendars for state educational institutions
According to the general academic calendar produced by the Ministry of Education, the 2017 school year will start on Monday January 16 for some and Tuesday January 17 for others.
Those starting school on Monday are crèche year 1 and year 2 pupils, those going to Primary 2 up to Primary 6 and S1 students.
Primary 1 pupils and Secondary 2 to S5 students will start on Tuesday January 17.
The calendar will operate, as usual, with three terms and will comprise 13 weeks. The first term comprises 62 days and will end on Thursday April 13. The mid-term is scheduled for Friday February 24 and Monday February 27.
Following a three-week vacation, students will resume school on Monday May 8 for the second term which will end on Friday August 11.
Mid-term is on Friday June 16 but students will be away from school for four days – on Thursday June 15 (Corpus Christi), June 18 (Constitution Day), June 19 (National Interschool Athletics Championship) and June 29 (Independence/National Day).
Exactly a month (four weeks) later the students will be back at school for the third and final term of the year which will come to an end on Thursday December 7. For this third term, students will benefit from only one public holiday on November 1 (All Saints Day).
