Nightlife hot spots in Seychelles … Which one is ruling the island? |23 June 2016
Ever wonder which nightlife hot spot in Seychelles is the most popular? Seychelles has a colourful nightlife, and every weekend it is at its sizzling best.
On Mahé we have the Amusement Centre, Gran Kaz, Carambole, La Faya, Tequila Boom, Katiolo and Boardwalk, which are the main nightlife hot spots, catering for different ages. But which nightlife hot spot in Seychelles is attracting more clients, and which one is ruling them all? We at Nation did a little survey by talking to some of the nightlife hot spot representatives.
Amusement Centre:
Ideally located in Victoria, Amusement Centre dishes out the highest number of jackpots every day. A fully licensed bar supports a highly entertaining atmosphere. You can relax and enjoy the gaming, or watch a match, or simply chilling out with an exotic cocktail.
“Opening hours is from 10am to 2am Monday to Friday and right of admission is reserved to people aged 18 years and over. At Amusement Centre we have different kinds of entertainment for different ages of people. Every Saturday we have the band Metis to entertain our loyal customers along with different kinds of promotion. I can honestly say that Amusement Centre is still the number one spotlight on Mahé,” says marketing manager Terence Sinon.
Boardwalk:
Located at Eden Island, Boardwalk was launched in 2010, and it is the ideal location to chill out in comfy sofa on a sunny day but when it comes to Friday night the Boardwalk turns into a mad house, where people aged from 18 to 60 come to have a night of partying and dancing (until 2am). It is opened from from 8am to midnight Monday to Sunday.
“Boardwalk is where the fun starts...And never stops!!! Every Friday we receive around 250 customers, locals and tourists alike, of different ages. Boardwalk is an ideal location to come and have fun, no matter your age. Lately we have a more refined crowd even though we don’t have a formal dress code; it is more of an indoor style. We take competitors positively as they give customers more choices and we respect that,” says the director Savita Parekh.
Carambole:
Located at Eden Island, Carambole opened at the beginning of this year. The décor is simply amazing. Since the opening, people from different ages are talking about Carambole, that it is the place to be. It has already created a name for itself. Although new in the business, it is striving for success.
“Since the opening of Carambole, we have had different types of customers of different ages. Every weekend we have a theme, like this Friday we have the biggest Student Night ever, and on Sunday a Pool Party. In our range of business we have competitors like Boardwalk which we have a lot of respect for. Boardwalk is an example for us, they have been in this line of business for so many years,” says general manager Jacky N’Diaye.
But what about the customers’ opinion, they are the ones who go at those nightlife hot spots…
Beverly Hoareau, 29 years old from Belvedere, says that she prefers Amusement Centre.
“People are mostly talking about Carambole nowadays but I prefer going to Amusement Centre because it is cheaper and does not insist on formal dress codes.”
Sasha Marivil, 23 years old, prefers Carambole.
“I prefer Carambole because it’s new and offers something different. The music is nice and I love that there is a standard dress code. However the bartending service is slow, something which must be improved on.”
Rose-Mary Juliette believes that Amusement Centre is the place to be.
“I enjoy going to Amusement Centre because it is the place to be and where winning is fun.”
Ketsia Sinon, 20 years old, says she prefers the outdoors but occasionally enjoys the nightlife at Boardwalk.
“I enjoy grabbing a drink at the Ste Anne Jetty with friends to catch up after a long hardworking week and wrapping the night up at the Boardwalk.”
With different kinds of nightlife hot spots catering for different tastes, it is somewhat difficult to say which one is the best. While many people prefer to bask in the quietness of home in front of the television, others prefer a much louder atmosphere. Different places offer different kinds of entertainment, along with different vibes. So, whichever one is your cup of tea, remember to always have fun responsibly.
