Samsung brings air conditioning technology to another level |14 June 2016

Samsung Electronics East Africa Ltd will later this week launch a new range of products which are expected to transform air conditioning by boosting energy efficiency and performance, maximising space, and increasing cooling speed.

The products comprise a new 360 Cassette air conditioning unit, DVM Chiller, next generation DVM S 30HP, and new side discharge VRF unit – the DVM S Eco 14HP.

With these new offerings, Samsung is leading the industry with a unique cooling experience, best products and best user experience featuring resource conservation and efficient recourse allocation, elegant architecture and design of living spaces and value for the customers.

The director, Consumer Electronics Business at Samsung Electronics East Africa Ltd, Nandakishore Nair, said, “With temperatures soaring to high degrees, air conditioning is now viewed as more of a necessity than a luxury. Thus the reason why we have introduced air conditioning systems that operate more efficiently and are less expensive to operate.”

The 360 cassette combines elegance and fast comfortable cooling without the cold draft, with an increased cooling speed by 34 percent. The unit, which can be fitted within the ceiling or exposed, offers ultimate flexibility to suit the style of any room allowing users to change the air flow depending on preference including horizontal, vertical, and separate zone control air flow. In addition, users have the option of a wheel dial remote controller with a dedicated button for comfort cooling. The Samsung Virus Doctor kit can also be added to eliminate dust, airborne contaminants, allergens, bacteria and viruses.

On the other hand, the DVM S 30HP boasts an innovative leak detection system and features increased heating capacity by 29 percent and 17 percent increased airflow rate.

Samsung’s single outdoor unit solution for apartment and office buildings, the new side discharge VRF air conditioner combines competitive cost, convenient installation, maximised space use and improved performance. The innovative design of the DVM S Eco 14HP boasts of improved heating performance by 20 percent and increased air flow by 10 percent compared to standard side discharge VRF units. With an extended piping length of up to 160 metres, an installation height of up to 50 metres and a width of less than a metre, the new DVM S Eco 14HP covers all areas of the building and ensures better use of space, while the four-way piping enables convenient installation.

In the revolutionary air-cooled DVM Chiller, Samsung offers greater energy efficiency with reduced annual utility costs by 36 percent to 50 percent compared to conventional chillers. By reducing the system refrigerant levels significantly more than a conventional chiller, the Samsung DVM Chiller not only complies with current 2015 EU refrigerant quota levels but also adheres to the further upcoming reduction in levels (35 percent in 2018). In addition, the Samsung DVM Chiller also delivers powerful heating performance while providing cold water through thermal ice storage with an in-built pressure and temperature sensor, which prevents device breakdown from freeze-bursts.

Going forward, Samsung will collaborate with world renowned experts – architects and professors – on various projects that closely integrate the Internet of Things (IoT) into future living spaces.
